I’m Audrey. I’m a nurse too. I worked in pediatric critical care for 8 years, travel nursed, and eventually reached a point where I began to wonder, “What next?”.

I knew I wanted more flexibility and the ability to increase my salary - things that felt limited within the nursing profession.

I was on track to go back to CRNA school, but even that didn’t feel quite right. I was burnt out. I wanted to live out of our RV with my husband and dog, but how could I do that when work would always call me back to a healthcare facility?

In thinking about possible paths from where I was at, I didn’t see how my clinical work experience to this point would translate to anything outside of bedside nursing or remote nursing roles.

As I waited for my first semester of CRNA school to start, I took a remote job in customer success and that turned out to be the point at which my entire path took a major pivot.

Now, 3.5 years later, I’ve worked jobs in recruitment and customer success and have had a successful career in marketing - who would have thought!?

What I learned was that nurses actually have highly developed soft skills, or what I see to be essential skills. To name a few: we work well under pressure, we’re highly organized, we’re great teammates, and we learn quickly.

These skills make a strong candidate for any position. The hard skills (like using excel, copywriting, project management etc.) can all be taught.

It’s exactly this that you can learn to communicate to hiring managers.
